  nop, it’s depends on your BlackBerry internet connections and the RIM’s server.

  it means you must have at least one email address that associated with your BlackBerry device.
  When you register an email address (or more) with this new BBM, BBM backs up changes to your contacts, profile, and group membership over the wireless network to a BBM server that is operated by or on behalf of RIM or its affiliates.

  How to do :
  1. click the BBM icon
  2. press the Menu key
  3. Options
  4. Backup
  5. Backup files remotely
  6. Register your email(s)
  7. Ok
