FileScout updated to ver 1.7.5.0 [BB]

by Arthur on Apr.08, 2010, under Blackberry

FileScout updated to ver 1.7.5.0 [BB]

FileScout for BlackBerry updated to ver 1.7.5.0

Changelog : (via blackberryrocks)

What’s New
* TextEditor: ‘Save as…’ allows to specify the encoding for the output file (the default ‘Save’ function will always save the file in UTF-8 – so if you like to use a different encoding in your result you now can use ‘Save as…’ from the #Menu.)
* TextEditor/Viewer Options: Now you can specify additional custom encodings. This allows you to load a file (in the FileScout integrated TextEditor/Viewer) with a device dependent encoding (like ‘EUC-JP’, ‘Shift-JIS’ or ‘ISO-2022-JP’). Please note that the encoding have to be supported by your device. FileScout is checking if the specified encoding is supported and only accept the input when it’s valid (device dependent). Domo Arigato Mr. Hirakuri!

What’s Fixed? – the easter bunny left some rotten eggs
* TextEditor reported “File not saved” after the use of the ‘Save’-MenuItem followed by leaving the Editor with ESC-Key
* Possible Uncaught ‘NullPointer-Exception’ fixed during application startup

FileScout 1.5.0.0 for BlackBerry is released

by Arthur on Nov.18, 2009, under Blackberry

FileScout 1.5.0.0 for BlackBerry is released

FileScout 1.5.0.0 for BlackBerry® is released

What’s new?

Display of thumbnails in search result (if thumbnail display is enabled and images are in the ‘FileScout Image Cache’)

Thumbnail- Options: New Button to generate all all thumbnails for all images on your device (incl. the SDCard) – this operation can take a while till it’s completed – please be patient!

When resizing images to device resolution size you can now select to keep the aspect ratio of the original image. If this option is selected, then FileScout will cut (left & right or top & bottom) of the image so that it will fit to your device screen resolution.

User Defined resolution (image resizing) can be now be max 9999 pixel [but it's recommended not use more then 1200px]

Support for DesktopManager Backup & Restore (FileScout settings)

A ‘[W]‘ in the Screen Title indicating that the background threads (required for Search and other extended features) are still running (after FileScout is started) – once the threads are completed the ‘[W]‘will disappear.

Integration in the RIMs FileExplorer Application: a ‘Explore with FileScout’ Menu Item is added

What’s Fixed?

Search files in the current Directory only function fixed to be usable multiple times

Potential Out Of Memory Error during start of FileScout (when the thumbnail store is getting too large)

Accessing OS5 System Folder for Bold, Bold2, Storm and Storm2, RIM confirmed that they made the System folder in OS5.x read only so files can only be viewed, not modified.

FileScout 1.4.1 Released for BlackBerry

by Arthur on Nov.02, 2009, under Blackberry

FileScout 1.4.1 Released for BlackBerry

FileScout 1.4.1 Released for BlackBerry

What’s new?

* New Simple TextViewer/Editor Option: Select how files will be saved. Either in ‘UNIX Format (CR)’ (default) or in’Windows Format (CRLF)’. By default BlackBerry is storing files in the UNIX Format – which makes editing afterwards e.g. with Windows Notepad a bit difficult.
* Storm 2 (9520/9550) will be treated as the Storm 9500/9530 devices (but still no touch screen support yet)
* Added a MenuItem for the “Go to Directory” + function
* Various performance and memory issue improvements

What’s fixed?

* Sometimes FileScout was instantly started again after it was closed by the user (e.g. when during the FileScout session some media files had been opened) – this issue should be solved with this build.
* OS 5.x ONLY: Endless loop for system folder fixed – Unfortunately in Beta OS 5.x (Storm & Bold) it’s not possible anymore to access the system folder via the file system API – it looks like RIM have restriced the access to this folder. With this Version FileScout will display an error message when the API does not return any content for a folder. This also means that FileScout can’t be used to delete pre-installed files located in the subfolders of ’system’ for Storm and Bold devices that have installed the OS 5.x. (Beta)
* Additional small tweaks for OS5.x Users.

Please note, if you still have BBFileScout installed [before the Application name change Version 1.2.0.0] you have to deinstall BBFileScout first in order to use FileScout v1.4.0.0 – I am sorry for this inconvenience!

FileScout 1.3.0.0 for Blackberry

by Arthur on Sep.18, 2009, under Blackberry

FileScout 1.3.0.0 for Blackberry

FileScout 1.3.0.0 for Blackberry® is released.

If you still have BBFileScout installed [before the applications name change in Version 1.2.0.0] you have to remove BBFileScout first in order to use FileScout v1.3.0.0

The highlights from the change log

* New File Associations Option: “Use the BlackBerry default Browser to open HTML files”. In previous versions of FileScout HTML files where always opened with the Media application. With this new Option it’s possible to open any HTML files (e.g. from your SDCard) with the default BlackBerry® browser application.

* New Functions in TextViewer/Editor: Toggle WordWrap, FontSize, new Menu items ‘Goto Start’ & ‘Goto End’

* New functionality in search popup

* New Menu Item ‘eMail
’ (when multiple files are selected)
This function will send all files (no directories) that are multi-selected in the current folder. You can select multiple files by using the key. Please have in mind that the total attachment size might be limited by your provider!

* New Menu Item ‘eMail DIRECTORY-NAME‘ (when a directory is highlighted)
This new function will send all files (no subdirectories) which are in current selected folder. Please have in mind that the total attachment size might be limited by your provider!

* New ‘File associations’ Options: In the past FileScout was registering itself automatically as content handler for the MimeType text/txt for various extensions. Now this is configurable for which file extensions you would like to register FileScout as content handler in the BlackBerry® OS. You can select the following extensions: .ini, .log and/or .xml.

Please note, that any change to this setting does only take effect after a full device reboot.
